What's new in RA-Echo v.1.01
We would like to thank all of you who helped us to find several
small bugs in RA-Echo and we also want to thank you for your
suggestions concerning new features of RA-Echo. Most of this has
been adopted in this version, and more will probably come in the
next release.
- ATTENTION !!!!
The structures of NODE.RAE and AREAS.RAE have changed !!!
You have to run 100TO101.EXE first.
- Corrected the arcmail names with D'Bridge
- Netmail on first start will no more be created
- Fixed netmail packing
- RA-Echo can compress netmail. You have to define the appropriate
packer for the node in RAESETUP.
- In network mode all files will be opened in read-only mode
- For points of a D'Bridge system we now have the RA-ECHO.CFG keyword
DBrigdePoint = ON / OFF. Default is OFF.
If ON the pointnumber will be put into the path line as D'Bridge
expects.
- With ZoneGate = OFF in RA-ECHO.CFG you can stop stripping SEEN-BYs and
the ZPTH entry
- ExternName should work now
- On Import RA-Echo stops if highest message number in the base
is > 32767.
- Crash Mails will no more be packed with /NC.
- If RA-Echo creates a new echo the semaphore file NEWECHO.RAE will be
created.
- The 'Error code 23451' will no more appear. This was not a real error
but a variable that was not reset. Same with the 'Message base
corrupted' error.
- Speeded up scanning of netmail folder and *.MSG folders.
- If your mailer is FrontDoor RA-Echo will recognize if FD is in a
mail session in another task (FD then creates a FDINSESS.NNN file).
In this case arcmail will not be appended to existing packets but
new packets will be creates. This prevents the packets from being
deleted by FrontDoor after the transfer while RA-Echo may still be
processing them.
- With the switch /V- you can surpress screen output during Import
and Export.
- If RA-Echo finds an error in a packet it writes this to the logfile.
- Empty lines after the Origin will be removed.
- Netmail on a Binkley system will no more be packed to a *.PKT file
but to a *.OUT.
- On Export you can declare what *.MSG-Areas have to be scanned
by giving the name of a file which contains a list of the areas
as 2nd parameter with '@'. Some systems automatically create
this file, and exporting can be much faster if you use this.
Example:
RA-ECHO EXPORT /Q+ /V- /L- @EXPORT.BBS
If no name is specified all areas will be scanned.
This does of course not affect the message base.
- New commandline parameter REATTACH. RA-Echo scans your arcmail
outbound directory and checks if there is a fileattach message for
every arcmail packet. If a fileattach message is lost for any reason
a new attach message will be created for the packet. Zere
lenghth packets will be ignored.
You can use this command in your daily maintenance batch:
RA-ECHO REATTACH.
- RA-Echo only creates file attach message when creating a new
packet. If you delete any file attach message for an arcmail packet
by accident the arcmail packet will remain in your outbound dir
'till judgement day or until you call RA-Echo with the REATTACH
parameter.
- RA-Echo accepts a DOS path up to 255 characters. This could
have caused problems finding an arc program which stood at
the end of a long Dos Path line.
- RA-Echo now stores the information about processed *.MSG messages in the
MSGINFO.RAE file which can be found in all *.MSG folders.
- RA-Echo only scans the whole directory (netmail, *.MSG) after
a purge. This will speed up processing of Opus style folders a lot.
- Logfile entries are separated between import to the base, to netmail
dirs and passthru mail.
- With keyword ZeroMsgClear = ON messages with zero length will be
removed. This will be documented in the logfile. You can use
this to delete fileattach messages on Binkley systems.
- You can declare the directory where RA-Echo resides with keyword
CONFIGPATH in RA-ECHO.CFG. You will no more have to change to
RA-Echo's directory.
Of course you have to tell RA-Echo where it can find the RA-ECHO.CFG
with the parameter /C.
- Packing netmail for other zones should work now. Please remember
that NETOUTBOUND does not have to be defined if you use Binkley
because all mail packets are stored in the outbound directory for
their destination zone.
- Errormessages contain a short description.
- In Areafix notify messages you may include 3 new replacers:
&B : Password for the mail packets
&C : If node is active "Active" is shown, otherwise "Passive"
&G : The name of the packer
- On Filefix messages the file ratio is shown with '-' if it's
negative.
- Corrected error on netmail import to the base.
- With the keyword FORWARD netmail may be forwarded
(a copy of the netmail is generated) or readdressed:
FORWARD #"Stefan Graf" ON 245/4.6 TO "Stefan Graf" ON 242/1.1 + "Roger Kirchhoff" ON 245/4.1
The ON address may include the jokers * or ALL. If the address is
not specified all netmail for this name will be readdressed/forwarded.
FORWARD can forward a message to more than one node. The original
message can optionally be deleted after forwarding if you
specify # before the original name.
The number of forwardings will be logged.
Examples:
FORWARD "Roger Kirchhoff" ON 2:245/4 TO "Stefan Graf" ON 2:245/4.6
All netmail to Roger Kirchhoff that is addressed to
Roger Kirchhoff on 2:245/4 (the names have to match too)
will be _forwarded_ to Stefan Graf on 2:245/4.6.
FORWARD "Roger Kirchhoff" TO 2:245/4.1
All netmail to Roger Kirchhoff will be forwarded to 2:245/4
no matter of the original destination address.
FORWARD #"Roger Kirchhoff" ON 2:245/4 TO "Stefan Graf" ON 2:245/4.6
This is in fact readdressing. The original netmail will be deleted
after forwarding it.
More than one line may be defined for the same name.
The new messages will be set to Kill/Sent and Local.
File attaches and requests will not be forwarded.
- Netmail for systems not contained in NODE.RAE may now be packed
too.
- New areas can be switched on for selected nodes. If you receive
a new echo the selected nodes will also receive this echo. This
has to be defined for every node in RAESETUP.
- Crash with QEMM _hopefully_ fixed. Qemm errors are a strange thing!
- On automatic area creation the following defaults will be set:
Max. Days = 30
Max received = 10
Max. Counts. = 50
All other fields are set to zero.
- If during netmail packing an error in the route statement is found
an error message is displayed and a log entry will be made.
- Only tearlines with three --- will be stripped.
- Only original origin lines with ' * Origin:' :-) will be replaced.
- The FMPT, TOPT and INTL lines will no longer be removed from netmail
when packing.
- Hidden AKAs (#z:n/n.p) will be recognized.
- Ok, ok, here you have it: With TearReplace OFF you can surpress
replacing of tearlines. It's really unbelievable how many
people have asked us for this useless feature!
- All logentries can be made into one file.
- Fixed INTL handling wit AKA adresses.
- Support for D'Bridge rescan files.
- Fixed error on saving netmail to the base.
- RA-Echo states a Base Overflow if the textfile becomes to big.
- If RA-Echo cannot unpack an arcmail it will be renamed.
For example: *.SU1 is renamed to *.1U1.
